Clane Parish Finance Committee
December 2004
Greeting and warm good wishes. We write to you on behalf of the Parish Finance Committee. Click here for a copy of the balance sheet, which was prepared by our accountant.
Thanks to all who contribute to the weekly envelope and the basket collections. We also thank the people who contribute to the Priests' collections at Christmas, Easter, June, and October. We estimate that 27% of homes in the parish contribute to all these collections. Naturally, we hope that the percentage will rise considerably. If you did not receive a box of evelopes for 2005, they are available at both churches and also in the Parish Office in Clane. We invite you to contribute to the Parish and to the Priests. This parish is growing and continues to face new challenges. The Catholic population is now over 7,000.
The churches, primary schools, and presbyteries are in excelent condition. Extra accommodation is being provided in the primary schools because of increasing numbers. We will again have to subvent an extension from parish funds in 2005.
Towards the end of 2003, the Parish bought the Convent and Grounds with money we got from the sale of the old Parochial House. The Convent will be an excellent meeting place for parish groups. It is a Listed Building; alterations to listed buildings are restricted by law. Recently, we decided to engage a Conservation Architect to represent our interest in the offices of the Planning Authority. Negotiations should be completed (we hope) by june 2005. After that we can begin to plan.
